Scenes from Pearl the Opera was commissioned by Maestro William Henry Curry and the Durham Symphony Orchestra in 2019, with a performance set for the spring of 2020. Like many performances, the pandemic postponed the premiere until winter of 2021. This work contains themes from Pearl, the Opera: and opera with libretto by Carol Gilligan and Jonathan Gilligan. It's a modern retelling of Nathanial Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter.
