Cheshire Cat Aria

from ALICE, the opera

"You're Not Ready to Journey With Me" for mezzo soprano and piano.

From ALICE, the opera

Music by Amy Scurria
Text by Zane Corriher

Well I could slink on down to Italy
Sail the canals of Venice easily
Then I'd prowl on over to Sicily, or
Sneak a drink from the Fount of Trevi.

Alice, oh, Alice confused and lost.
You need to see the Queen.
Prima devi imparere chi sei tu.
You're not ready to journey with me.

I may saunter to beautiful Paris
Where the Moulin Rouge dancers shout:
Oui, oui, merci!
Climb the Eiffel Tower and grin with glee
See the Tuileries, nap in the shrubbery.

Alice, confused and lost
You need to see the Queen.
D'abord tu dois apprendre qui tu es.
You're not ready to journey with me.

I might romp across the ocean to Peru.
Climb atop the top of Machu Pichu
Gaze at Rainbow Mountain, my what a view!
Eat lomo saltado and drink milk, too.

Alice, confused and lost
You need to see the Queen.
Primero debes aprender quien eres.

Alice, oh, Alice.
First you must learn who you are.
First you must learn who you are.
You're not ready to journey with me.

You must make your own path, Alice.
